The Ghost is the Rolls-Royce you drive yourself, positioned below the Phantom. The second generation, launched in September 2020, breaks away from the first: it leaves the BMW 7 Series base for the Architecture of Luxury, the aluminium chassis developed by Rolls-Royce and shared with the Phantom and Cullinan. This is the key distinction when comparing two Ghosts, more so than the body design.
The engine is the N74B68, a 6,749 cc twin-turbo V12, 420 kW (571 hp) at 5,250 rpm and 850 Nm from 1,600 rpm, paired with an eight-speed automatic featuring Satellite Aided Transmission, which pre-selects gears based on GPS data of the upcoming road. It has all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering. The Planar suspension adds a damper to the upper front arm to filter out vibrations that the main damper lets through. Certified CO2: 359 g/km.
Series I Ghost: Series II was only unveiled in October 2024, with redesigned lights, a glass strip from pillar to pillar, and the SPIRIT system. Black bodywork and orange upholstery, a contrast made possible by the Bespoke programme on the Ghost, alongside the Starlight Headliner and the Illuminated Fascia, a backlit dashboard panel introduced with this generation.
Production not limited: the second-generation Ghost has been manufactured since 2020, with Series II unveiled in October 2024.
On a Ghost, the Bespoke specification is significant: Starlight Headliner, Illuminated Fascia, Bespoke audio and rear tables represent tens of thousands of euros in the original configuration and are listed on the manufacturer's specification linked to the chassis number. The Rolls-Royce warranty runs for four years with no mileage limit and is transferable to the new owner, as is the maintenance programme included for the same duration.
Taxation: for a first registration in 2023, the CO2 penalty follows the 2023 scale, capped at 50,000 EUR from 226 g/km, and 359 g/km falls within this; only the age-related reduction by monthly bands lowers it (CIBS art. L. 421-7-2: 33% between thirty-seven and forty-eight months). The weight penalty is reduced to zero, as the CO2 penalty already reaches the ceiling (art. L. 421-74). Add the regional tax for the carte grise (French registration certificate), 60 EUR per fiscal horsepower in Centre-Val de Loire in 2026, or nearly 3,000 EUR for the certificate alone.
