S 580 Rolfhartge designer

The S 580 4MATIC crowns the V8 range of the facelifted S-Class, unveiled on 29 January 2026: above it are only the S 580 e plug-in hybrid with 585 hp and the AMG and Maybach versions. The facelift involves around 2,700 parts, enlarges the four-bar grille by 20%, now illuminated, and opens up the palette to 150 exterior colours and 400 interior combinations. Brown on a black body is a classic house combination, rarer than black on black.

The 4.0 biturbo V8 moves to the M177 Evo specification: AMG-derived flat-plane crankshaft, two balance shafts, revised intake and exhaust. It delivers 395 kW (537 hp) between 5,500 and 6,100 rpm and 750 Nm between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm, compared to 700 Nm before the facelift. 48 V system and 23 hp, 205 Nm starter-alternator, 9G-TRONIC gearbox, 4MATIC, 0-100 km/h in 4.0 s, 250 km/h, 241 g/km CO2.

The Rolfhartge Edition preparation, built on an AMG Line exterior base, combines flow forged Number ONE grey wheels in 9x21 ET 33 (255/35 ZR21) and 10x21 ET 52 (285/30 ZR21), carbon on the wing vents with RHR emblem, mirror caps, boot spoiler and steering wheel insert, Rolfhartge emblems on grille, bonnet, boot and wings, a set of anthracite Luxury High Pile mats matching the brown upholstery, SURFACE+ protection and the AELUS purifier with HEPA H13 filter.

The Rolfhartge preparation is an aesthetic signature (forged ONE 21-inch wheels, grille, winglet inserts on the front bumper, rear diffuser, emblems and interior finishes): the mechanics and performance remain those of the standard S 580 4MATIC.

The malus is assessed according to the scale in force at the date of first registration, including abroad. 2026 scale: the CO2 component starts at 108 g/km and reaches its ceiling of 80,000 euros at 192 g/km. At 241 g/km, the S 580 is already at the ceiling, and the capping under article L. 421-74 reduces the weight-based tax to zero, with the CO2 component never reduced. The age-related discount, by monthly increments since March 2025, lowers the malus and its ceiling, by 3% in the first quarter.

Useful legal point: a set of wheels and carbon parts does not affect power, weight, or seating capacity. As the characteristics on the carte grise (French registration certificate) remain unchanged, article R322-8 of the French Highway Code does not require either a declaration or individual approval. The only real constraint is to comply with the load and speed ratings required by the chosen tyre size.
