The W465 generation G 63 is the G-Class redesigned in 2024, the most extensive revision of the model since 2018. The silhouette remains unchanged, but everything else does: 48 V network, aerodynamic trim on the A-pillars, roof edge spoiler, improved soundproofing, latest MBUX and off-road cockpit. The foundation remains intact: ladder frame chassis, rigid rear axle, permanent 4MATIC with three direct-locking differentials, low range of 2.93 compared to 2.1 before 2018, 241 mm ground clearance and 700 mm wading depth.
The AMG M177 4.0 biturbo V8, hand-assembled, develops as standard 430 kW (585 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 850 Nm from 2,500 to 3,500 rpm, with the 48 V starter-alternator adding 20 hp and 200 Nm during acceleration. AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed gearbox, 40/60 split, 2,565 kg unladen, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 s, 220 km/h, 335 g/km CO2, 100-litre tank.
The Brabus PowerXtra B40-700 increases the total to 515 kW (700 hp) and 950 Nm. The tuner uses an additional processor-controlled unit, plug and play connected to the original ECU and calibrated to the standard management: nothing is removed, neither turbos nor exhaust, and installation is done in Bottrop. Brabus claims 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 s, but the main point is the 100 Nm gained at mid-range, where two and a half tonnes pick up again. Top speed remains 220 km/h, increased to 240 km/h with the Vmax option.
The G 63 W465 has been mass-produced since 2024 and the PowerXtra B40-700 is offered as a standard part by Brabus for this chassis: not a limited edition, no numbering.
The Brabus PowerXtra B40-700 module increases the V8 from 585 to 700 hp and from 850 to 950 Nm, with associated Brabus trim: the above values are those of the standard G 63.
An increase in power is a modification of characteristics: the power is shown in section P.2 of the carte grise (French registration certificate). Article R321-16 of the French Highway Code requires significant modifications to undergo a new approval, in practice an individual approval with the DREAL (regional environment, planning and housing directorate), and article R322-8 requires a declaration within a month, with circulation still possible under a provisional certificate during this period. Brabus, for its part, states that TÜV approval and registration on the certificate may be required depending on the country. Inform your insurer of the declared power: an incorrect declaration allows them to reduce or refuse cover.
On the tax side, the scale applied is that of the year of first registration. At 335 g/km, the CO2 component is at the ceiling of the 2026 scale, 80,000 euros from 192 g/km, and the capping of article L. 421-74 reduces the mass tax to zero. Mechanically, 950 Nm passes through a transmission, brakes and tyres rated for 850: the quality of consumables is key.
